Hi my name is Birdie
I am an environmentalist, I am trying to educate the public about the consequences of harming body's of water such as lakes, rivers, and springs. It effects marine mammals such as manatees. Boat accidents, red tide, and ingestion of micro beads are some of the causes manatees to die every day. Collisions with boats is the main cause of manatee deaths in Florida by humans, red tide is an algae bloom caused by over fertilization that goes in to the runoff it produces a toxin it makes manatees die if they breath it in or eat it the toxin attacks the organs, microbeads are tiny plastic beads found in scrubs, tooth paste, and shower gels when they get washed down the drain they are too small to get caught in the filters they go through the sewer system and eventually they go to rivers and springs and when marine life ingest these beads it clogs the intestines which leads to starvation. 
These microbeads effect us even if they are ingested by fish and we eat this fish this poisons us.

Here is how you can help, make a pledge below

pledge to:

1) Reduce pesticide and fertilizer use on your lawn.

2) Use a broom to clean out side areas instead of your hose.

3) Don't use your toilet for trash - each flush uses 5 gallons of water.

4) Plant drought resistant plants.

5) Stop using products that use micro beads.
